Within a joint R&D project, in close cooperation with engineers from Elektroniskie sakari, we developed the Android app Good2Know. It collects, processes and visualises the parameters that describe the quality of a 5G mobile network connection.

The app records the network data available on the phone — cell ID, 5G New Radio modulation, RSRP, RSRQ and SINR — together with synchronised coordinates and time. It stores the data and can share it further with an external system.

The app was built to the technical specification of the Elektroniskie sakari engineers and validated in a range of field trials.

What it does

  • Shows signal quality on a map in three colours — green, yellow, red — for the current and previous positions.
  • Detects 5G network jamming and alerts the user.
  • Exchanges data with a central server, so the channel state seen by one device and regional jammer warnings are available to the other devices and can be passed on to command systems.

Our role

Following the technical specification of the Elektroniskie sakari engineers, SMART IoT RIGA developed the Android app: data collection, map visualisation, the jamming indication interface and the data exchange with the server.
